Special Screening: POWWOW PEOPLE dir Sky Hopinka

POWWOW PEOPLE

USA | 2025 | Documentary | 88 min | English | Vermont Premiere

FRIDAY, MARCH 13 | 3:15 PM | CAPITOL

Mesmerizing and overflowing with spiritual vitality, Sky Hopinka’s Powwow People follows a day-long gathering of Native people from sunrise to sunset. The powwow flashes across the screen as rich patterns and textures, the rhythms of the drums, the movements of the bodies, the vibrant colors, the pride tones, and the humble tones, and the joy tones, the voice of the caller, and at the center of it all, the dance. Powwow People is a proclamation of love for living  traditions, testifying to the eternal spirit of humanity. It is a spellbinding reverie. It is a triumph.

This special screening is a late addition that we just added to the schedule this afternoon. We are thrilled to be able to offer this documentary and hope you can find time to watch it with us.

What our screeners are saying:

"This is definitely a film that needs to be watched on a big screen in the dark to fully be immersed in it."
"Wow, just wow wow wow."
"stunning, intimate, immersive"

POWWOW PEOPLE is sponsored in part by Liberation Ecosystem
