A standout among the festival's wide range of documentaries, The Freedom to Marry (Dir. Eddie Rosenstein) chronicles the struggles of Evan Wolfson, a same-sex marriage advocate, and Mary Bonauto, a civil rights attorney, in their fight to the Supreme Court for marriage equality. Wolfson and Bonauto have been pioneers of LGBT+ rights for decades, and their impact has been widely felt by the community, but also by the world. Along with providing a much-needed gay history lesson, the film promises to be empowering and thought-provoking (even for those beyond the LGBT+ community.) This is not only going to be an entertaining film, but also a hugely important one. I highly encourage you to catch it.
I also encourage you to check out the film's website: freedomtomarrymovie.com
